Powertank COMPACT – Fixed Speed Whole House Water Pressure Booster: 125ltr
The Powertank COMPACT has been specifically designed for smaller properties with low water pressure and flow and where space is at a premium e.g. apartments, cottages, townhouses. Fitting into the space of a standard kitchen unit, the Powertank COMPACT is a similar size to a washing machine so can be hidden away behind a cupboard door. The electronic controller automatically starts and stops the pump when a drop in pressure is sensed i.e. a tap is opened and closed.

Why do I need a tank and a pump?
To increase water flow there must first be more water. If your mains is not delivering, then you need a break tank to store your own water ready for when you need it. This can then be pumped to your outlets on demand giving you plentiful water pressure and supply.
Why can’t I just fit the pump on the mains?
Water Authority byelaws prevent a pump being directly connected to the mains supply, so when your mains water pressure needs a boost, a break tank must be incorporated into the system. There is an exemption for pumps ‘up to’ 12 l/min but this is not guaranteed and still relies on your mains being capable of delivering this volume. To put this into context, a single shower typically requires between 9-15 l/min.
Will it be noisy?
All pumps create noise, but by incorporating an ultra-quiet running submersible pump within a tank unit, this means that the POWERTANK range is about as quiet as you can get.
Is it easy to install?
Our all-in-one tank and pump unit is designed to remove the headache for your installer, just fit it and forget it (aside from keeping it clean). We check every unit before it leaves us to ensure that it is in perfect working order when it gets to you.
Where am I going to put it?
Unfortunately there is no small way to store 125 litres of water, but this ‘Compact’ booster unit has been carefully designed to fit in the space of a standard kitchen unit (similar to a washing machine) for properties where space is at a premium.
What is the difference between the fixed and variable speed version?
The fixed speed version has a standard pump controller that ensures you always have a minimum set pressure to your outlets. As demand increases the pressure will reduce as this is a characteristic of a fixed speed unit.
The variable speed version has an intelligent pump controller that will supply a smooth flow of water to every outlet by maintaining a constant pressure throughout your property, speeding up and slowing down the pump to suit demand. This ensures efficient operation of the pump leading to the reduced energy consumption.
What size property will this supply?
The POWERTANK COMPACT is scalable and additional capacity can be added for large properties or those with particularly poor incoming flow rates. We have designed this unit to fit in all domestic properties, although incoming flow rate and required usage must be taken into consideration. If you have a particularly low incoming mains and a lot of people wanting showers at the same time you may need an additional POWERTANK COMPACT slave tank to ensure you have enough stored water to meet demand.
What if my tank runs out of water?
The controller will turn off the pump if there is no water in the tank. It will automatically reset after a short delay allowing the water volume in the tank to recover. The pump protection feature ensures a long and happy life for the pump.

Quick Check List for Installing Your Powertank
- Powertank should be mounted on a solid foundation. The recommended surface for a Powertank is a concrete plinth or floor. We do not recommend installation of Powertanks on wooden structures where noise or vibration may be an issue.
- Fill the Powertank with water through the fill valve “before” connecting the top discharge pipe work to allow air to escape from the pump.
- Pipe work should be easy to disassemble. Consider the use of “Speedfit” or similar plastic pipework systems, or flexible hosing with a suitable pressure rating, for the last 1.0 mtr (approx.) of pipe work connecting to the unit. This will assist in reducing noise transmission, and avoid stressing the Powertank connections.
Delivery and Handling
The weight and size of the Powertank range may require the aid of lifting equipment and must be handled in a safe manner.

I live at the top of a mansion block in London and have always had problems with water pressure, especially during peak time periods.
I’d been looking everywhere for a solution. We were contemplating putting in a whole new water supply to the block but that would’ve been very expensive, very disruptive and the lower flats don’t suffer from the same issue.
Then i found the Powertank online and it seemed to offer an ideal solution to the problem: both a tank to store water and a pump to give constant pressure, whilst not interfering with the supply of the other flats.
It has not disappointed. We now have 3 bar pressure at all times. Showers are uninterrupted. We can finish brushing our teeth etc…
It was a bit of a gamble as there weren’t any reviews but I have to say dealing with Ian in sales was very reassuring. He explained everything to a layman like me, he measured the tank to make sure it’d fit (it is actually a bit smaller than the specs say which meant it just about fitted the tight space left behind by the kitchen unit). He spoke to my plumber to explain some adjustments that needed doing. I can’t speak highly enough of his customer service.
Anyway, well worth it because weak water pressure has become a thing of the past, which is a joy!

We’ve only just installed it, but what a great product. We had variable and poor water pressure for months on end. We had various visits from the council and Thames Water who denied responsibility, which made the whole process drag on for months. Eventually a plumber suggested installing this tank. We now have a genuine power shower. Its a total life upgrade. Would recommend to anyone who is having issues with water pressure.
