Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Trust – We Supplied A Pump
We are passionate about water and the local environment; and we love knowing that our contributions to the trust will benefit the canal and the diverse wildlife they support. We feel a sense of pride, knowing our pump is part of a larger plan in helping to regenerate a small piece of local history.
Who are the Lichfield and Hatherton Canal Trust?
The Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust is dedicated to restoring the Lichfield and Hatherton Canals. Their mission is to create a green and blue corridor for the benefit of both the local and wider community. They aim to make these canals available for navigation and this restoration work not only preserves historical waterways, but also enhances the local environment while providing recreational opportunities for the community.
The Requirements
- They wanted a reliable pump, that would run continually to keep the nearby canal topped up.
- The pump needed to have a high tolerance for sediment, debris and other obstructions found in the water.
- They needed a pump that was small and powerful while being efficient in energy usage.
The Installation & Setup
LHCRT volunteers, Mike, Dave and Pete worked together to setup and configure the abstraction point. Once the pump was installed, it protected the pipework from sediment and debris present in the water; while continually providing water that continually tops up the main canal.
Supporting Local Charities
At PumpExpress we love to support our local communities and charities and it has been a pleasure working with the LHCRT.
LHCRT is self-funded and has to find every penny in order to restore the canals – so all donations are gratefully received.
